How COS SSC Science Mentors Can Help

Students can meet with a Science Mentor for support with topics such as:

  • Academic success and study strategies
  • Goal setting and staying organized
  • Campus resources and involvement
  • Research and internship opportunities
  • Career preparation
  • Midterms and finals
  • Balancing academics and college life
  • General questions about the College of Sciences experience

Science Mentors are not academic advisors or tutors, but they can help students identify next steps and connect with the right resources.

COS SSC Science Mentor Meetings

Science Mentor meetings are available in person or virtually.

Mentor meetings are typically 30 minutes long. Students are encouraged to meet with their assigned mentor three times per semester.

First-year students and incoming transfer students may be assigned a Science Mentor. Other College of Sciences students may request a mentor or meeting by emailing cos.success@utsa.edu.

Request a Science Mentor: Email cos.success@utsa.edu to ask about mentor availability or scheduling a meeting

Mentor meetings give students a chance to ask questions, talk through challenges, learn about opportunities, and receive guidance from another College of Sciences student.

Events and Programs

Science Mentors also help host events and programs throughout the year focused on areas such as:

  • Academic success
