The Four-Year Plan, created by the College of Sciences Student Success Center, guides science students at UTSA on a path to success. It encourages students to connect with peers, mentors, and faculty, helping to develop the future generation of scientists.

Excellence in Sciences Awards

The Excellence in Sciences Awards is a celebration for College of Sciences students who have completed their requirements under the Four-Year Plan. Freshman, sophomore, junior, and senior undergraduates are honored with graduation regalia including cords, pins, and medals. To receive regalia and an invitation to the Excellence in Sciences Awards, students must earn a specific number of completion badges on their pathway.

Freshman Year

Freshman will be receiving the White Cord and 1st year pin – These symbolize a blank canvas where students can begin to create their science identity.

Sophomore Year

Sophomores will be receiving the Orange Cord and 2nd year pin. These symbols embody a vibrant burst of energy and purpose, serving as reminders for students to infuse their personal and academic pursuits with passion and enthusiasm.

Junior Year

Juniors will be receiving the Blue Cord and 3rd year pin. These symbols serve as representations of the boundless potential and vast array of opportunities that await students in their upcoming academic and professional endeavors.

Senior Year

Seniors will be receiving the Tri-color Cord and the College of Sciences Medal. These symbolize the culmination of years of hard work, growth, and transformation throughout their journey within the college. The College of Sciences Medal represents the pinnacle of academic achievement and excellence.
