Mentoring Components

  • Program Director Mentoring:
 Drs. Hsieh, McCarrey, and Wanat will hold regular and as-needed meetings with trainees.
  • Mentor Training for Faculty and Trainees:
    • Faculty will complete Becoming a Mentor @ UTSA to reinforce mentoring skills.
    • Trainees will complete a tailored version of Becoming a Mentor @ UTSA to develop peer mentoring skills.
  • Mentoring Undergraduates:
 Trainees will also be afforded opportunities to mentor undergraduates in the NPRE program and within UTSA labs.
  • Alumni Mentoring: 
Trainees will engage with UTSA PhD alumni through Friday training sessions and facilitated introductions.
