Thank you for your interest in the MARC program. After 45 years, and hundreds of undergraduates trained and launched into amazing scientific careers as doctoral level scientists, the MARC program has ended. We celebrate our students and their accomplishments and will continue to seek out ways to support the highly talented and dedicated future scientists.

MARC-2 was offered to students who wanted to have the training offered to MARC students, but did not meet program requirements or were not admitted.

Like MARC trainees, MARC-2 students participated in a host of professional development activities that prepared them for doctoral training. They were also an important part of the MARC training cohort...fully integrated as a participant! MARC-2 students were also assisted in submitting travel award applications to attend conferences like the MARC trainees did.

What a MARC-2 Student Must Have

  • Commitment — Students accepted into a position were expected to continue until graduation.
  • Passion — A drive to better themselves, their family, and the community through the research training they received.
  • Ambition — The desire for a graduate degree in the biomedical and behavioral sciences.

Benefits

Same as the MARC benefits, but without the funds.
