Ming is from Jiangsu, China; he joined Doyle’s group at UTSA as a postdoctoral research associate in January 2022. He is working on the asymmetric catalytic cycloadditions of donor-acceptor cyclopropanes and cycloaddition reactions of enoldiazoacetates. He obtained his Ph.D with Professor Xinfang Xu at Soochow University in 2019, working on catalytic carbene/alkyne metathesis reactions and alkyne polyfunctionalizations.

Soumen is from India and he obtained his Ph.D. from Indian Institute of Technology Indore under guidance of Dr. Sampak Samanta. His area of research was synthesis of biologically important heterocycles and enantioselective synthesis. After obtaining Ph.D., he joined Dr. Seunghoon Shin’s group at Hanyang University, Seoul as a postdoc where he was working on asymmetric dearomatization reactions. Then he moved to North Dakota State University to pursue his postdoc in Dr. Mukund Sibi’s group. He joined Dr. Doyle’s group at UTSA in July 2022. His current research in Doyle’s lab is to explore cycloaddition reactions of triazene N-oxides.

Marlyn is from Medellín, Colombia. In 2018, she joined to the Research Group of Chemistry of Colombian Plants, where she has worked on design and development of active compounds against Alzheimer’s disease under the supervision of Professor Andrés Felipe Yepes. She joined Dr. Doyle’s group as a visiting researcher in June of 2022.

Luca is from Rome, Italy; he joined UTSA in September 2016 and obtained his Master’s degree in inorganic chemistry with Dr. Ghezai Musie, working on sugar chiral recognition. In 2019, he joined Dr. Doyle’s group, where he has worked on selective oxidation, metal carbene, nitrosyl exchange and N-oxide projects. In 2021, he and his wife were blessed with the arrival of his son, Leonardo. In his spare time, Luca likes to spend time with his family, travel, teach, and make pizza for friends. In 2017, his teaching passion was recognized at UTSA with the Graduate Teaching Award.

Louis was born in Houston, TX but moved to San Antonio, TX for a few years before finally moving to Laredo, TX where he finished his primary education before moving to San Antonio once again to attend UTSA where he is currently in pursuit of a B.S. and plans on going to Dental school following his graduation. He first encountered Organic Chemistry in 2019 and adores the subject and started working in Dr. Doyle’s Lab in 2022 to follow his passion. Outside of UTSA, Louis enjoys working and volunteering in dental clinics as a Dental Assistant, volunteers at Haven for Hope when he can, and spends the rest of his free time either studying or working out.

In his free time, Alejandro likes to play tennis, listen to music, travel, and hike.
