The 2013 MORESE colloquium on October 11, 2013 was a huge success. More than 40 students and faculty attended the colloquium.
Presented were 16 undergraduate research papers. The colloquium covered a varied spectrum of contemporary topics from geology, environmental science, and civil engineering. Five graduate students from different fields of Geology and Environmental Science and Engineering served as a judge committee and evaluated the presentations. Each poster consisted of a five minutes presentation with five minutes of judges asking questions, maximum 10 minutes. The judge committee evaluated all poster presentations for one first ($250), two second ($200), and three third ($120) best presentations (a total of six awards) in terms of overall quality and professionalism.

Presented were 18 undergraduate research papers, including eight oral and 10 poster presentations. The colloquium covered a varied spectrum of contemporary topics from geology, environmental science, and civil engineering. Eight graduate students from different fields of Geology and Environmental Science and Engineering served as a judge committee and evaluated the presentations. The oral presentation was a 20 minute talk maximum including questions/answers; each poster consisted of a five minute presentation with five minutes of judges asking questions, maximum 10 minutes. The judges evaluated each category (talk and posters) for the first, second, and third best presentations in terms of overall quality of research and professionalism. Cash awards for each category (oral and poster) were given for the first place ($250), second place ($150), and third place ($100).
