I came to UTSA Spring 2021 with no idea how I would start my journey of becoming a teacher. My advisor informed me of UTeachSA and on that day my college career changed forever. I felt more than prepared to start clinical teaching because of the many opportunities the program has allowed me to participate in. UTeachSA not only gave me a place to belong but it gave me a family that I can lean on forever. I am so grateful and will cherish the memories always.

I joined the UTeachSA program because I wanted to be a high school volleyball coach. As the semesters went on, I fell more and more in love with the idea of teaching. It was the best choice I have made. I have learned so much from the UTeachSA program and have made so many friendships and connections throughout the San Antonio area. The UTeachSA program was my college family, and I am forever grateful for the opportunities it gave me. I am happy to say I have a position to teach high school science and coach volleyball and track. Thanks to the UTeachSA program I feel fully prepared to enter the classroom and make a difference in students’ lives.

The UTeachSA program was amazing! Through these courses I learned how to be helpful and understanding towards students with learning disorders, students in Special Education and students whose first language is not English. I learned how to plan engaging, multi-modal lessons and how to cooperate with coworkers through group projects and presentations. Furthermore, the class and small group discussions exposed me to different perspectives and inspired me with ideas I wouldn't have thought of on my own. The field work gave me the experience I needed to be a good teacher and the mentors I've had were amazing, helpful, encouraging and inspirational. They went above and beyond to help me and my classmates. I highly recommend going into this program because the experiences I've had and lessons I've learned from it are invaluable.
