Forestry Techniques Workshop

May 9-10, 2024

EcoJEDI and honorary EcoJEDI students were trained in forestry techniques to analyze forest structure and composition, ground cover, soils, and carbon storage in the Leon and Salado Creek Greenways during the summer of 2024. Students were taught the point-quarter sampling method for shrubs and trees, line transects to measure ground cover and species diversity, and proper use of d.b.h. tapes to measure the diameter of trees.
