Xuan Zhou, Ph.D.

I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at the UTSA. I am also affiliated with the Department of Mechanical Engineering and the Center for Advanced Measurements in Extreme Environments (CAMEE) at UTSA.

My research background covers nano-optics, nano-photopolymerization, materials under shock and high pressures, as well as photoelectrocatalysis. I obtained my B.S. in Materials Physics from Xi’an Jiaotong University (2009, China). After that, I started an adventure in France for my graduate research. I worked with Prof. Renaud Bachelot in Optics and Nanotechnology at the Université de Technologie de Troyes to get my Master's (2010, France) and Ph.D. degree (2014, France). In 2014, I joined the group of Professor Joaquin Rodriguez-Lopez at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign for a postdoctoral research in photoelectrochemistry. In 2016, I joined the group of Professor Dana D. Dlott as a postdoc studying energetic materials and inter materials (e.g. metal-organic framework) under shock wave.
