Dr. Xie is leading an effort on remote sensing snow monitoring. Utilizing NASA's MODIS snow cover and reflectivity products and in-situ measurement of snowpack as well as the AMSR-E snow depth and brightness temperature products, Dr. Xie will develop algorithms to retrieve time series snow cover and snow depths in a 8-day time interval and 500 meter spatial resolution from year 2000 to present. The project will fully support Dr. Xie's visits to Lanzhou University during summer time for performing field work, giving seminar and/or workshop, and helping advise graduate students funded by the project.
