Program Benefits
The UTSA Jefferson Scholars Program provides a breadth of opportunities and resources, including:
- Eligibility for funding to present your research at local, state, regional, and national conferences and potential eligibility for a stipend
- Opportunities to combine formal coursework and research with practical application at science conferences, colloquia, professional workshops, and community-based activities
- Becoming a member of a community of science researchers, leaders, and communicators intent on creating change locally and globally
- Opportunities to develop a professional network
- Open dialogue with faculty and staff mentors who are available to offer support, training, and assistance
Eligibility Criteria
The UTSA Jefferson Scholars Program is open to undergraduate students in UTSA's Environmental Science program who meet the following requirements:
- Be enrolled as a junior or senior in the UTSA Department of Integrative Biology
- Commit to attending workshops, mentoring sessions, social events, science communication activities, and other functions as requested
- Commit to participate in end-of-year program assessments and focus groups
- Cumulative GPA of 2.75 and GPA of 3.0 within major
