Please tell us about yourself.
I was born and raised in north Texas. My family moved to San Antonio during my junior year of high school and although all my family members have since relocated across Texas, I have made San Antonio my home. I graduated from UT San Antonio in 2020 with a B.A. in Communication. I enjoy reading, travelling, and the occasional craft project.
What did your journey to UT San Antonio look like?
After graduating from UT San Antonio, I had the opportunity to work with the Church in San Antonio as an Outreach Coordinator doing event planning, social media management, and one-on-one mentoring. I later worked as an Insurance Professional for USAA in home and auto insurance policy servicing. Although I learned a lot in both roles, I was always interested in UT San Antonio as a potential employer. I had a great experience as a student and have several friends who work for the university that always spoke well of their jobs, so I have applied to different positions at UT San Antonio over the years. When I interviewed for the Business Service Center, I was really impressed with the environment and culture, not just on the campus but also among the BSC team. I knew that this was the right opportunity to continue to grow both personally and professionally.
How would you describe your role at UT San Antonio in 10 words or less?
Interesting and fun processes that support faculty and staff.
What is your proudest moment with the College of Sciences?
Being selected as a semi-finalist for the rising star award for the College of Sciences and the University Excellence Awards has definitely been a proud moment for me. It is rewarding to know that the work I do is making an impact on the people around me and I hope that I can continue to provide excellent support to our college faculty and staff. I was also pretty happy to win the BSC Holiday door decorating contest last December.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
I enjoy that each day brings something new so there is always more room to learn and grow. I also enjoy working with my fellow BSC Specialists—we have a great team!
What does your ideal Saturday look like?
My ideal Saturday starts with sleeping in, as Saturday is the only day I can really have a slow morning. If the weather is nice, I might go for a walk at Eisenhower Park or a local trail. In the afternoon, I can curl up with a good book for a few hours before meeting up with a friend to grab dinner.
