Dr. Waldemar Gorski

Waldemar Gorski, Ph.D., Department of Chemistry

What did your journey to UTSA look like?
Before joining UTSA in 1996, I spent some time in Ohio and Florida gaining postdoctoral experience and learning the American academic system. This prepared me for doing research and mentoring students at UTSA.

What is your proudest moment with the COS?
Perhaps, it was the moment last year when we learned that the Nature Index ranked our Department of Chemistry first in the U.S. and 18th globally among the top young universities in chemistry. It took a lot of work and talent of our faculty and students to achieve such a recognition. We hope that the COS will continue supporting our efforts for the benefit of all UTSA students.

What is your ideal Saturday?
My ideal Saturday involves hiking or biking in one of San Antonio parks. They are great! On bad weather weekends, I like going to my gym and using their machines and sauna.
