Please tell us about yourself.
After many years of working, I have found my "home" at UTSA. My first work experience was in retail sales. After years of standing on my feet and making little money, I decided to earn an education.

Obtaining degrees has opened doors in several areas starting with Property and Casualty (auto, home, boat) Insurance. This experience developed my talents for interpreting and applying laws, sales, and customer service. Though this was a respectful career, there was little intrinsic value.

As I love to learn, especially in math related topics, I ended up teaching Math in public school in Baltimore, MD. This career was the most exciting and challenging. For years, I enjoyed teaching and sharing my love for math. However, after about ten years, it was time to move on.

I felt a calling to higher education and landed a position as a Job Develop/Career Advisor at a college. It allowed me to improve my sales, writing, and communication skills with diverse populations of students. My intention was to grow from that job into a more administrative role in higher ed. Finally, I earned a position at UTSA.

What did your journey to UTSA look like?
My journey was a rocky one as it includes different careers in different states. When I moved to San Antonio, within a few months, I knew I wanted to retire from UTSA someday. It took several years of watching the job board and applying before I earned a position here. Until then, I worked in a program assisting STEM high school juniors and seniors to transition to college. I would attend workshops and visit with my students to become more familiar with the campus and meet staff. I knew then that one day I would be a part of the UTSA. Now that I am here, the journey was well worth it.

How would you describe your role at UTSA in 10 words or less?
To service the COS Dean, staff, faculty, and students.

What is your proudest moment with the College of Sciences?
When our Senior Admin took me on a tour of the building to meet Department Admins, I understood the importance of my position.

What do you enjoy most about your job?
Helping others

What does your ideal Saturday look like?
Watching college football, eating chicken wings, and yelling at the players and coaches through the TV screen. Then, taking a break to shop at HEB and Walmart to prepare for the next week.
