Michelle Phillips, Senior Administrative Associate, College of Sciences Office of the Dean

What did your journey to UTSA look like?
My journey to UTSA happened in 1998 when my husband graduated from Texas A&M and accepted a job in San Antonio. I was so excited to live in San Antonio! I had fallen in love with the university setting while working at TAMU and hoped to find a job at UTSA. I was happy to begin my UTSA career in the Division of Engineering, which was housed under the College of Science and Engineering in those days, as an Administrative Assistant. After holding several positions within UTSA, I was fortunate to begin working in the COS Dean's Office in July 2019. I love all of the people here, especially the Dean's Office staff who make work fun, and have really enjoyed learning more about what's happening in the sciences realm!

What do you enjoy most about your job?
I love the people I work with and find inspiration in the fact that on a college campus we are serving and shaping the future generations.

What is your ideal Saturday?
My favorite weekend activities include drinking coffee on the patio while hanging out with neighbors or entertaining houseguests. When the coffee is gone, my husband, Mark, and I love loading the greyhound into the Jeep and taking off to explore the Hill Country and other surrounding areas, discovering new parks and restaurants and talking to local folks.
