It is the decision of UTSA to move all functions during summer 2020 to an online forum. Due to the interactive, hands-on nature of our summer workshop, we regretfully find that it is in the best interest of our participants to postpone our summer workshop until our next scheduled workshop in summer 2021. If you would like some ideas for classroom activities involving astronomy for the 2020-2021 school year, or if you have any questions, please contact Lindsay Fuller, Chris Packham, or Carmen Fies.
This program offers current and future educators opportunities to deeply engage with modern astronomy, a science that captures the imagination and serves as a gateway to STEM learning. Topics and classroom activities that participants will explore include our solar system, stars, galaxies, dark matter, exo-planets, optics, and the future of astronomy. The academy includes a 3-day workshop adventure under the dark skies of the UT McDonald Observatory near Fort Davis, TX, as well as field trips to local institutions.
Space is limited to a maximum of 15 participants
Teachers receive continuing professional education credits
