Careers in geo-environmental assessment involve the characterization and evaluation of the geologic conditions of localities used for different development purposes. Past interns have contributed to projects tasked with generating and executing plans for safe developments and contamination remediation. Work tasks utilize geologic concepts from subject areas that include geomorphology, soil science, geochemistry, geophysics, and hydrology.

Course Preparation

Students interested in this career track can prepare by enrolling in: GEO 3374 Geochemistry, GEO 3383 General Geophysics, GEO 4113 Geomorphology and its lab (GEO 4121), ES 3123 Introduction to Soils and its lab (ES 3121), and GEO 3113 Geophysics Field Investigations.

Technical Short Courses and Workshops

Workshops that have or are currently planned include multiple modules at the Texas HydroGeo Workshop and Ground Penetrating Radar techniques presented by our partner Raba Kistner Environmental.
