Careers in energy resources involve the assessment and extraction of non-renewable and renewable energy sources. Past interns have work on projects related to evaluating hydrocarbon potential of a region and assessing conditions for the development of petroleum systems. Work activities draw on geologic concepts related to sedimentology, stratigraphy, structural geology, organic geochemistry, and geophysics.
Students interested in this career track can prepare by enrolling in: GEO 3103 Structural Geology and its lab (GEO 3111), GEO 3123 Sedimentology and Stratigraphy and its lab (GEO 3131), GEO 3383 General Geophysics, GEO 4953 SS: Petroleum Geology, and CHE 2603 Organic Chemistry I and its lab (CHE 2612).
